A weekend to remember, and more memories to create together.
The BajaEd weekend it’s over. After weeks of work and preparation, guests coming and leaving, students sharing their stories and friends discovering more about us, the weekend has concluded.
There are many things to highlight about the BajaEd weekend. The first is the work of the BajaEd staff. Every year, they raise the bar when it comes to preparing the Gala Dinner, the BEI center Open House, and the Meet a Greet with students and sponsors. The logistics behind the events are well thought out and we hope you enjoyed the weekend. It is a gigantic work, done with love and passion.
The Gala Dinner was definitely an evening to remember. Family, friends and partners gathered to celebrate BajaEd. We gathered at the Salón Terra, in Maneadero, to enjoy food, music and artistic performances. Our guests could also visit booths where we displayed information about our students, programs and outreach activities. At every booth, scholars and teachers shared their stories and testimonies on how BajaEd has transformed their lives. Finally, our guests bid on Mexican handicraft as part of our silent auction. We are glad the auction was successful and we raised some money to keep our programs running.
The next day, Saturday morning, our BEI center was, literally, the center of attention. Our guests visited the facilities and listened to the staff talk about their work and routines as part of their service in the center. The teachers also did a presentation on their classes, the students, and the blessings and the challenges of teaching in the community. The Open House served as a way to show partners and sponsors the result of their donations and the impact they have in the community.
The Fiesta de Colores was on Saturday afternoon. We invited all of our scholars to meet us at a local baseball stadium to play games, enjoy food and spend quality time together, especially with their sponsors. It was a great afternoon, filled with friendship, laughter and lots of fun.
The BajaEd weekend, in general, was a wonderful experience. We want to express our gratitude to everyone who was involved in this project. From the volunteers, to the board members: thank you. We could not have done it without your help. The BajaEd weekend is a collective effort. It is the demonstration of what can happen when good people work together. Because together, we are breaking the cycle of poverty through education. We are BajaEd.
